The S double P

This next poem is by another 5th grader!

She is another brilliant, wonderful, girl who also surprises me most days with her wit!

She is Mexican and began speaking English when she was 5 or 6 years old!

Today I'm gonna use
the S double P
that stands for
you're gonna tell me
his, her, mine,
could be
that's singular possessive pronouns
as you can see

Rhyme Time: Think Your Expectations Are High?

I challenged my 5th graders to write me a rhyme about pronouns....
anybody that did it well would have a bunch of bonus points for their creative writing grade.
Here is Jhoanna's: BTW (by the way)  these kids far surpassed my expectations!

Me, You and Them
He is a boy, and
His name is Jim
If this toy is his, then
It belongs to him.

She is a girl, and
Her name is Sue,
Hers is the boat
That is painted blue.

You are You,
That is plain to see,
I am not you,
And you are not me!

We are together,
We are more than one,
Please come join us
In our fun!

"They" describes others,
They are more than one,
They walk and talk together,
Together they play and run.

I am me,
And I am special as can be
You are my friend,
Together, you and I are we!

For the record, I am sooooo happy!

I was not expecting anything so incredible!

Learning English through Rhyme!

works nearly every time!

If you make it easy they will like it...
(and it will be easier for you... for them... for everybody)!

Past tense rhyme

YESTERDAY I USED -E -D
TO TELL YOU WHAT HAD HAPPENED TO ME
I USED -E-D TO HELP YOU SEE
WHAT IT IS THAT USED TO BE

now using an incredible website to make my own posters!
